LIMENARIA
Limenaria is the second largest town of Thassos and is located in the southeast of the island.
It has a long industrial history as there used to be the old mines of Speidel Company around 1903, which were the reason for the construction of the whole village. Another ornament left by the German company is the “Palataki” that used to house the company’s offices, but now it is an important monument in the area, designed by the Italian architect Arigoni.
At the top of the hill are the mining depots where you can watch music and theatrical events during the summer months from the cultural institutions of the island. At the folklore museum in the center of the village, there are ceramics, traditional costumes and everyday objects that travel to other times.
In the beautiful Limenaria you will find many taverns, restaurants, and bars that will meet your needs for dining and entertainment day and night. Its excellent tourist infrastructure will make your stay an unforgettable experience. After all, Limenaria are now writing their own tourist story in the North Aegean!

THASSOS ISLAND
Thassos is a pole of attraction for thousands of tourists every year, especially during summer, but it is also a perfect place for vacations during autumn and spring as well. It is very close to the main Greek land, thus the expenses to get here are very low, comparing to the other Greek islands. Thassos has beautiful beaches, which have crystal blue waters, all around the island. It also has amazing deep green nature areas full of plane and pine trees at its inner part. Thus, is a perfect place for holidays because it combines perfectly the sea and mountain.
Getting here
There is only one way to reach Thassos and that is by boat. The island has two ferry ports, the main one is in Limenas (Thassos Town), the capital of the island. The route to Limenas is from Keramoti on the mainland and is the most popular route to get to Thassos. The reason being that during the summer months the boats run every half an hour and the journey time is only 35 minutes.Once you reach the port of Limenas travel in a counter-clockwise direction for approximately 38 km and follow the signs for Prinos/Limenaria. Continue passing through the villages until you reach Limenaria.
The second port is located at Skala Prinos and is served from Kavala, this route has a journey time of approximately one and a half hours and has less frequent sailings, a maximum of 5 in a day during summer. From Skala Prinos, again travel in an counter-clockwise direction for approximately 25 km until you reach Limenaria.
By Airplane
Thassos does not have its own airport but is well served by Kavala Airport (Megas Alexandros) which is situated just 17 kilometres from Keramoti port. Kavala is mainly for charter flights during the summer from all over Europe but does have a twice daily connection service to Athens International Airport. Alternatively, Thessaloniki, just two hours away from Kavala, has a full international airport which also benefits from several budget airlines which use it. Car hire is simple and the journey to Kavala/Keramoti is straightforward using the wonderful Odos Egnatia (E90).By Car
As mentioned above, Thassos is fortunate in that it is very close to the Odos Egnatia (European E90) which is a super highway built to provide a backbone across the north of Greece. It runs from Igoumenitsa on the western Ionian Coast of Greece to Alexandroupolis on the east Aegean coast, close to the Turkish border. The E90 has good links to the south of Greece and all of the Balkans.
